Stacey

Owner/Manager and Licensed Cosmetologist

Starting a small business and becoming an entrepreneur was never a consideration for Stacey after graduating from UWGB in 1998.  Rather, once she graduated with her Bachelor of Arts, emphasis in technical theater, Stacey took on additional studies at WI College of Cosmetology to become a licensed Cosmetologist.  With those two degrees in hand and membership in I.A.T.S.E. (Professional Stagehand Union) she toured for six years, nationally and internationally and worked locally, on a variety of Broadway tours and Vocal Music Group productions working on hair, wigs, makeup and costuming.  The highlight of those tours was being able to travel alongside her husband, Dean.

In 2005, Dean was offered a job for a Theatrical Lighting and Sound company in Green Bay, so they put their suitcases aside and took a break from touring.

By 2006, Stacey discovered a hidden desire, a desire to help members of the local community find comfort in their journey through the devastation of hair-loss.  The key was not her knowledge of hair or wigs but the experience she always discovered of becoming a family in each of her job experiences.  She enrolled in Urban Hope’s entrepreneurial classes to help her learn and understand the scope of business creation and ownership.

In March of 2007, her concept of a wig salon, dedicated to helping women undergoing hair-loss for medical necessity, started to take shape.  Nell’s Wigs took off by word of mouth.  After a few years, Stacey saw the need to expand her services to offer garments and prosthesis for those who have undergone breast related surgeries.  2011 marked another set of milestones.  Stacey went back to Urban Hope’s E-Hub Program, to design a business plan that integrated her passion with her vision. The UWGB-Small Business Development Center (SBCD) helped Stacey tremendously in bringing her business vision another step closer to completion.  This all led to a Business Plan Grant for Stacey that supported the design of Nell’s Wigs and Boutique.  That November, her vision became a reality.  Stacey continues to utilize both E-Hub and UWGB’s SBDC’s resources to help her through some challenging business obstacles, including becoming Medicare Accredited, which has now been running successfully since 2013.

Since opening Nell’s, Stacey has been recognized within the community in a variety of local newspapers and magazines, and though the UWGB Alumni Association and SBDC.  She was awarded the Community Impact Award from E-Hub, was chosen to be a part of the top 100 Small Businesses in Deluxe Corporation’s “Small Business Revolution” campaign, and in 2017, received the Distinguished Alumni Award from UW-Green Bay.  The success of Nell’s continues to fuel Stacey’s passion for serving members of the greater Green Bay Community.

Today, outside of work, Stacey enjoys travelling and being with Dean and their son.  Living in Green Bay has also allowed Stacey to regularly share her energy and expertise with her UWGB theatre family as a proud UWGB alumnus.  Stacey also shares her theatrical insight with the Next Stage Productions family that brings together performers and crewmembers from high schools throughout the Northeast Wisconsin region in a collaborative learning environment.  Since 2013, Stacey has sat on the planning committee for Prevea’s Runway for Life, an event that celebrates so many cancer survivors in our community. And in 2016, Stacey joined the board of directors for The Ribbon of Hope Foundation, a local Breast Cancer organization where $.97 out of each $1 donated is granted back to help those diagnosed with breast cancer in Brown and Kewaunee Co.  Stacey continues to share her passions, her expertise and her dedication to her community in meaningful ways.

Samantha

Manager and Licensed Cosmetologist

Samantha is a 2005 Cosmetology Science graduate of the Aveda Institute Minneapolis. She worked in various salons before leading her to meeting Stacey and joining the team at Nell’s. “I am so happy to be a part of the team at Nell’s, being able to help women going through hair loss is a great reward.” Samantha has family and close friends who have gone through hair loss and feels grateful to be able to help others faced with the same situation. “I love to see the ease on my guests face when they find that perfect wig as well as the laughter when one looks completely different. It is wonderful hearing the guests say that this experience was easier than they thought it would be.”

Samantha has attended various wig seminars, “Education is important to me, product is always evolving and I am committed to finding what will work best for our guests.” She also volunteers for Look Good Feel Better as well as giving back to local organizations.

Donna

Billing Coordinator and Compliance Manager

Donna, joined the team at Nell’s in May of 2013. She is dedicated, to all our guests who bill their insurance, in providing a clean claim allowing them a peace of mind that all things will be attended to. As Compliance Manager, she keeps the ladies of the shop in alignment with the all the information  necessary about Medicare, Medicaid, and all the insurances. Although you may not come in contact with her on a regular basis, she does occasionally fill in as needed in the shop on the wigs side and enjoys working with our guests. She also has made a number of the head/sleeping cap scarves in the shop and the Packer specialty wigs, and is our resident seamstress for any alterations in the shop.

She is very proud when our guests make mention of the cherry blossom tree and the artwork all around Nell’s, as they were created by her daughter, Taylor, of Taylor Made Creations, in Chicago. Please ask for her card at the front desk should you want a piece created for you! Donna lives with her beloved husband Jeff, the Chair of Theatre at UWGB, in Allouez.

Judy

Certified Mastectomy Fitter

I have always had a passion for creating a quiet, safe place for people to relax and nurture themselves in mind, body, and spirit. I was privileged to do that for 20 years as a massage therapist. By spending time talking with my clients and helping them identify their needs each visit, I was able to keep the focus on them and their healing.
In 2011, I began a new journey as I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Yes, it did change my life and my career path. I visited Nell’s during my treatment. I was so impressed and grateful for this safe haven during a difficult time. The energy was positive, and the people were knowledgeable and kind. These qualities are aligned with my passions, and I was excited to let Stacey know I wanted to be a part of this incredible experience.

As a team member, I am dedicated to helping you feel comfortable and safe. I will continue to be a lifelong learner focusing on my personal growth so that you can focus on yours.

Nell’s Wigs is a full service wig salon dedicated to discreet and personable service. Whether you need a wig for medical hair loss, fashion, cosmetic, work, travel or fun, our mission is to make you feel comfortable and confident in your style. We will work with you to find your perfect wig.

Thank you for the consultation with Samantha today. I LOVE my wig. I sent a picture to my friend and she thought it was my real hair! Thank you!
